Fabrication of an Anti-Icing Aluminum Alloy Surface by Combining Wet Etching and Laser Machining

The phenomenon of icing on the surface fuselage while aircraft pass through clouds has an impact flight safety. This may adversely affect metrological conditions and cause aerodynamic mechanical effects, resulting in a threat to research aims fabricate anti-icing 2524 aluminum alloy material by combining laser machining wet etching. microstructure surfaces were obtained laser, nanostructured etching, hierarchical structures prepared combination these two processes. contact angle, delay performance, adhesion, dynamic water repellency three kinds textured smooth tested compared comprehensively experiments. experimental findings have shown that best superhydrophobic properties, freezing time droplets can be extended 10 times. In addition, ice adhesion structure decreased approximately 75% untreated samples. showed repellency. proposed hybrid machining–wet etching fabricating method potential avoid icing.
